High Season (December through March)

December through March is considered the “dry season” meaning there is less rainfall during this time of year. While there will still be the occasional rainfall, this is the ideal time to visit the island. It makes for great weather to check out some of the eco-tourism and hikes that are available in places like the El Yunque National Forest. We’ve curated a selection of tours that you can book online.

The temperatures during this time of year are generally between 70-80°F, making for some great beach weather. One other thing to note is that on average March is the least humid month of the year, with levels hovering around 70% through the month.

This time of year also makes for a ideal conditions on in the bioluminescent bays found throughout the island. The water is more clear, the weather more agreeable, making for an overall better experience. If you want to learn more about Puerto Rico’s bio bays, check out our blog post about the three different bio bays the island has to offer.

Spring Time

Late March through the end of April are also viable options Temperatures during the daytime usually hover between 75°F (27°C) to 85°F (32°C). One thing to keep in mind is the humidity, which can make it feel a bit hotter. Starting in May, the relative humidity on the island begins to hover around 75%. The rainy season also starts to pick up around late April, so if spring is the only time of year you can visit, we recommend booking a trip earlier in the month to avoid the rain that rolls in later in the month. Expect more overcast days, afternoon showers.

One other thing to be mindful of is Spring Break. College students on spring break make their way to Puerto Rico which can mean bigger crowds at the beaches and bars.

Low Season / Rainy season (May through November)

This is the low season for tourism sothere will be fewer crowds overall. That said, there is a reason for the lower number of visitors. The conditions are hot and humid, making it a little less appealing to your typical vacationer. With temperatures hovering between 80-90°F (27-32°C) and humidity at 75% it can feel quite hot. Be prepared for “sticky” weather. With that being said, if you prefer to avoid crowds, and like a sleepier feel to the towns you’re visiting, this time of year may be ideal for your vacation. Just be mindful of the forecast and potential storms.

Regardless of when you visit Puerto Rico, you’re assured an excellent time from inviting locals and the warm culture that Puerto Rico offers. We hope you found the information above helpful!
